The finale of the 1st of 2 arcs of Sengoku Youko, where both good and evil stride in one epic battle between the Mountain God, Tama, Jinka and Shinsuke vs. Yazen and Tama's mother Kuzunoha, the daughter-mother affair is there, though the predecessor disciple-master affair of Jinka vs. Yazen is still quite the battle. Clearly, Tama's mother's love for Yazen is quite the hysterical love between human and katawara, and Tama's "love" for Jinka, it's not romance as she knows Jinka Yamato as Genzou's son, and no matter, she will want to remain as a katawara...to the detriment of Jinka eating Taizan's flesh and earning another 2 more tails, more than Kokugetsai, and losing his sanity in the process. With Yazen cheating his way by Soul Calling, having Tama's illusion be killed by himself, Jinka's clearly on the road to no return with his insanity losing out to his inner consciousness...not without Shinsuke taking a rap for taking damage on Yazen, turning him into a manifestation of lifeblood: the birth of a godbeast, more than just a nine-tailed fox. With powers returned to Tama and the appearance of the cloaked people, the Mountain Goddess and Rinzu immediately retreats against his will, and ironically like Yazen and Kuzunoha, Tama fuses with Jinka, being husband-and-wife figure, for as the temporary moment is there, before Tama gets Soul Calling away by Rinzu back to the Mountain Goddess. With Tama set on her own journey to find Jinka, another story starts: the thousand-tailed fox Sengoku Youko, now known as the demon fox. The end of Part 1 of the entire manga, the Reformed Siblings Arc was OK, and definitely set the tone for the consecutive 2-cour of Part 2: The Thousand Demons Arc, coming later in July... ...which coincides with Re:Zero Season 3 in Fall. How is White Fox going to survive production hell? https://twitter.com/sengoku_youko/status/1775546507703537685 |

The big climatic battle for the finale. The four beast leaders, led by Yazen, lost Mountain God and faced off against Jinka, who was using spiritual transformation. With nine tails, Yazen surpassed Jinka both in spiritual power and combat ability. Cornered, Jinka devoured Mountain God's flesh, pushing his spiritual power to its limits. However, Jinka, disregarding his human self, lost his sanity and was consumed by the darkness of his consciousness. Seeing Jinka's rampage as an opportunity, Yazen used illusion to control the battle. Tama and Shinsuke desperately tried to regain Jinka's sanity. While it started off, to put it simply, shit, things really picked up after Shakuyaku's death. However, for White Fox, this is quite disappointing, aside from the animation. I'm expecting big things for cour 2 and 3. |

I don't think this is a good stopping point, which is such a shame for a good anime like this. Fighting scene is, ironically, this anime's weakest point, so I'd prefer to see less of it in the next season. The adventure/journey is its strongest point, which the next season should have a plenty of this since Tama needs to travel to find Jinka. I'm wondering if swap protagonist/false protagonist will happen, it'd be such a shame if Jinka turn into a villain for real, even if Senya (along side with his mentor Jinun) would make a very very good protagonist. |

Jesus Christ, they pushed Jinka's mentality and spiritual power to the limits. This is the result of a character going on to lose his sanity in the season finale. Not even surprised considering how they executed the plot so far up to this point. The emotonal bond was strong in this one though. And also, props to the VA for bringing out all those emotions. It's a fine season imo but I felt slightly underwhelmed. |

The reverse of the usual trope, power of losing friends turn one into monster. Production wise, the drawing art style are beautiful and the sound design are delightful, sad that the animation fall short out of satisfaction. Writing wise, the story pacing and progression is the biggest flaw of this first part, the build up of rivalry between enemies and main characters especially left much to be desire. Overall, a good action series with touching emotional moments but held back by the aforementioned flaws. ![]() |

So this is the end of the first cour/arc. I thought this will be a continuous 3 cour anime, but oh well. 1:08 雷翔樹箭 (raishou jusen) - "lightning fly wood arrow" 2:33 五行弐神突 (gogyou-nishin-totsu) - "five elements two gods thrust" 2:42 九頭龍咆 (kuzuryuuhou) - "nine head dragon roar" 4:05 五行杖 (gogyoujou) - "five elements staff" This was pretty epic, didn't expect Jinka to separate from everyone like that. Where are Yazen and Kuzunoha? What will Shinsuke do from now? Interesting. 7/10 This was pretty good. The story kinda felt like a big prologue imo. The visuals were extremely good. Next arc starting in July, 2 consecutive cours this time. |

I've been told this first part would be pretty bad but worth to watch because the second half would be a masterpiece. But until Shakuyaku joins the group and gets it going together. I agree, it was so annoying to watch. But after that and everyone had its character development arc it became pretty good! I really love this show color design and art direction, it's just so beautiful. Really hyped for the continuation in July, I hope I can get what I've been promised... |

Wow, what a finale. Felt like so much shit happened in this one and quite a few tonal shifts. Kind of indicative of the series as a whole to this point. I need part 2! Pretty safe to assume it’s non continuous now, which makes sense given re zero in October. Tama kicking the shit out of Kuzunoha was so satisfying. “Shut up this is a family matter” 😂 enjoyed seeing Tama’s rebuke of her mother using her own logic, but it deed seem like Kuzunoha struck a chord when she mentioned Tama being in love with Jinka’s dad too.. I don’t think she had a romantic love for him like she does Jinka, more of a parental/respect type of love Yazen vs Jinka was very well animated, white fox cooked consistently throughout this one and haven’t got the praise they deserve production wise. I like how fights look in this series and the art was also really beautiful. Jinka losing himself and turning into a Godbeast was wild. Far surpassed a 9 tails and went straight to 1000..calmed down a bit there at the end thanks to Tama reaching out to him but I wonder where he got transported to? This Jinka retrieval arc in part 2 is going to be fun, especially if they bring the little boy who got trapped by the mountain goddess back. Apparently he’s the demon god?? Speaking of Tama, her new upgraded form is so beautiful. Really growing into that whole “vixen” role her mom spoke about.. beautiful scene with she and Jinka until he got pulled into the soul calling. Kinda wish they would’ve stayed with the sibling relationship, but the writing has been on the wall since the first transformation scene. Overall, great finale, lot of questions and things I wanna see in the next cour and I hope we don’t have to wait too long. Sucks to get a cliffhanger, but it is what it is Edit: part 2 in July! |

Insane finale of the 1st cour.Thought Yazen would've been dealt with as the big bad of this cour, but no way they offscreened him. White Fox really gave a lot of love to the series, animation, visual and ost.Tho the pacing felt off at times. Solid 8/10.Dont think it deserved the low score it had all season. |

I really liked, and even loved, this anime up until episode 10. After that I feel like it went off the rails quite a bit. This particular episode would have been a lot better if it had proper animation. I hope that White Fox devotes more resources and/or time to the next season(s) because the close-up battle sequences are just not it. I find the story and characters pretty compelling, so I will probably give the next season a chance when it comes out. |

A solid finale, in my opinion. It does not really end on a cliffhanger; it is clearly the start of a new status quo. I feel like we’ve learned a lot about the world and seen a lot of growth from the characters. I can see why the source material is championed by so many. Speaking of which, how do people think this show worked as an adaptation? In a vacuum, I thought it was a solid, but kind of light/low-stakes sort of adventure, only to be suckered into more intense, emotional material about half way through. Was this similar to the manga? Did they have to cut a lot of material or was it paced similarity? As an anime only, I was impressed overall. |

@absolutelynormal I would say anime did pretty decent job as adaptation. Of course, some jokes and small interactions between characters were cut, but considering that originally anime was supposed to skip this part of the story all together, i think it was small price to make. |

A ridiculously entertaining but ultimately tragic ending. Jinka got his wish, but not at all in the way he anticipated or hoped for. I'm really happy I stuck with this through the first 5 or so episodes, those were kind of a chore. But the characters, the action adventure plot, the inventiveness and craziness, the pleasing animation and more really came together and made this special, in my opinion. Each of those pieces felt like nothing too special, but each punched way above its weight. What a show. |

What a fantastic finale although it ended on a bittersweet note with Jinka loosing control to become a godbeast after fighting Yazen. This caused the Mountain Goddess to call everyone back including Shinsuke before they got wiped out. Now that Jinka has now become the legendary thousand tailed demon fox, he has become a threat to both humans and katawara. The mountain goddess intends on unsealing the boy that posses a thousand demons known as the Demon God. This anime was very underrated as it was one of the hidden gems of Winter 2024 and I can't wait for the start of Part 2 in July 7/10 |

I felt like this was a good end to this arc despite the bumps this story had in getting here. Glad to see the how well the Jinka vs Yazen fight looked after the anticlimactic finish to the last two fights. Jinka’s nine-tail transformation, and subsequently his 1000-tail transformation weren’t exactly earned but the mechanics behind it at least made sense. Shinsuke got a shot in on Yazen which was cool to see, not sure if he’ll have any significant place in the next part of this story though. Tama sets out to find Jinka after he disappears, so not sure if we’ll see much of her in the next part either. All this does set up, like Mtn Goddess says, a climax that could end up with all of them dead, leaving me thoroughly intrigued to see the next part that most fans of the manga say is the real crux of this story. I do hope it doesn’t simply throw Shinsuke and the others to the side when transitioning to Senya though. Overall though I’m still confident in giving this part a 6.5/10. It touched on self-discovery and self-acceptance themes that I really appreciated. The action and fights definitely weren’t the best work on the part of White Fox which held it back. The story itself had a couple awkward pacing moments and moments that happen out of nowhere purely to advance the plot (i.e, pregnant lady that leads to Shakugan’s death). The characters don’t have a mariana trench’s worth of depth but I ended up invested in them anyway bc their struggles felt real and their goals were more than plausible |

And so we end with Jinka losing control and becoming a monster thingie, Tama searching for him, Shinsuke being the only good character to come out of this, and Shakuyaku still a big rock. Yeah, the last show of the Winter 2024 anime season for me ended with all the enthusiasm of a wet fart. It probably didn't help that my eagerness to watch this at all was severely hurt after they "killed off" Shakuyaku. But since I(mistakenly) believed it was all airing at once I figured I might as well keep watching. But now? I dunno. I definitely won't continue this weekly if I ever choose to watch the remaining seasons. But it'll be only for Shinsuke if I do. His hit on Yazen was literally the only part of this episode I enjoyed. I just don't care all that much about the narrative. 6/10 Bottom 3 of the season for me for sure. |

Damn. White Fox cooked with this episode. It looked so good. Seems like Jinka went out of control. I wonder how they're going to bring him back to normal assuming they don't just outright kill him. Tama looks so freaking good with longer hair. I hope she keeps it. This was overall a really interesting show. It wasn't really as good as I was hoping but maybe Part 2 will change my mind. I thought it was going to be 3 consecutive cours so still a bit bummed about that. But I'm surprised it's going to return as soon as July. @SoulReaper85 Originally Sengoku Youko was supposed to only have 2 cours but the director realized it was not enough to fully adapt the manga. So he requested one more cour and his request was accepted. If it had just 2 cours then a lot of content would've been cut and many of the key scenes probably would've been relegated to short flashbacks I guess. |

They can't work on two anime at the same time? Unless they have more projects in the works.
@Dan_ALves considering that this is White Fox, they need ALL attention on delivering Re:Zero, not that they cannot do two anime at the same time, which is the max limit for any quality studio. Unless you're Liden Films and the like, you can go straight to hell. |

Amazing Climax Battle for the Cour 1 Finale!! The Storytelling is the strongest point of this Anime imo. the fight scene is just a bonus for me. LET EVAN CALL COOK!! OST was FIRE!!! Very Good First Cour with a lot of emotions. I miss you Shakugan... Thank You White Fox!! 8/10 from me. I still don't understand why this Anime was so underrated. Also the score on MAL, how is this not above 8 yet?? WTF guys Can't wait for July 2024. |

@KANLen09 I´m not familiar with their work, so what does that mean? They have to focus on one thing or everything will turn out bad? And as for Lindenfilms, do they do a lot of shows at the same time? |

@KANLen09 I'm pretty sure a huge part of Sengoku Youko will be completed by its airing date. The voice actors/actresses in their early promotions already spoke about protagonist-change months ago. It's not like production will wait until the week it's aired to draw the scenes. |
