been watching Anime for 20 years, but as I grew older it became harder for me to start(and finish) new Anime on a whim, so please recommend me a very good Anime, either new or old, that is a "Must Watch" kind of Anime so I can fill the gaps in my Anime knowledge. preferably not something too long(can be a movie as well. not just a series). thanks!

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Its climate crisis and war themes are still relevant, and so much stuff references this that it's good to watch as a foundational work in anime history. Also, it's a good 2 hour trailer for the manga, which delves even deeper and is significantly more brutal than your typical Miyazaki or Ghibli work.

For someone who has been wtahcing anime for 20 years you haven't watched many anime. I would recommend Monster but it might be too long I see you have watched Paprika but not Perfect Blue so you might try that. As for series Phantom Requeim for the Phantom and maybe Serial Experiments Lain if you don't mind slow paced anime and maybe Mushishi.

This sentence made me laugh a bit. probably confusing it for Akira or GITS or Hotaru no Haka maybe.

Dungeon Meshi - fantasy adventure with cooking and really enjoyable characters. I think you'll enjoy the humor in here. Animation quality is also really good.

Bungou Stray Dogs - crime and action with a few supernatural elements, the focus is on the character interactions though and it often comes down to a battle of wits kind of situation. The first season isn't particularly strong, but it gets better with each season.

Link Click - it's Chinese and only few Chinese shows get this popular in the West. This one is amazing and would deserve even more popularity. It's a great show, just watch an episode.

@JoeChip ye like i said, i gobbled up Anime in the first decade, but then I had less time overall but also less appeal to sit and watch an Anime compared to let's say read a Manga which is faster, often better, and I control the pace.
